X series or Nova. That is the real choice.
Freego splits its off-road range by drivetrain, not just by power. The X bikes drive the rear wheel from a hub motor; the Nova bikes turn the chain from a mid-drive, so their torque is multiplied by the gearing before it reaches the ground.

Freego is unusually forthcoming on paper, which makes its bikes easier to compare honestly than most in this category — as long as you know which number you are reading.
Drivetrain
A hub motor drives the wheel directly. A mid-drive turns the chain, so its torque is multiplied by the gearing before it reaches the ground. The Nova line and the Nova 5 Mini are mid-drive; the X line and the K1 use a rear hub. It is why a 6,000 W Nova 4 out-pulls a 6,000 W X2 Pro.
Watts
Freego publishes both, which most brands do not. The X3 is 4,500 W nominal and 8,000 W peak; the Nova 5 is 4,000 nominal and 8,000 peak. The number on the box is always the second one, so compare nominal to nominal when you can.
Speed maps
The X series ships with two maps. City caps the bike at 20 to 28 mph, Off-road releases it to 40 to 56. The cap is a software setting, not a mechanical limit, and switching maps does not make an off-road bike street legal.
Fit
Freego rates the whole bike. 141 lb on the K1 up to 330 lb on the X3 — and that figure includes a backpack, a tool roll and anything else strapped to it, not just the rider.
