The Freego Nova 5 is not street legal. It has no pedals, no US e-bike class rating and at 53 mph it is far outside every class that exists. Ride it on private land, closed courses and OHV trails where local rules allow, and check your state's rules for off-highway vehicles before you ride anywhere public.
A forged aluminum frame and 380 newton-metres
Freego's full-size mid-drive. 8,000 W peak, a 2,880 Wh LG pack, 220 mm front rotors and 53 mph. Off-road and private property only.
The Nova 5 is Freego's full-size mid-drive: 4,000 W nominal and 8,000 W peak through a centrally mounted brushless motor making 380 N·m, fed by a 72V 40Ah pack worth 2,880 watt-hours built on LG 50LT cells. Freego rates it at 53 mph and 40 to 70 miles depending on how you ride it.
The frame is forged aluminum rather than the steel tube most bikes at this money use. Suspension is hydraulic at both ends - a 780 mm fork with 210 mm of travel, and a 265 mm eye-to-eye shock with 78 mm of stroke. Four-piston hydraulic calipers bite 220 mm front and 200 mm rear rotors. Wheels are 19 inch front, 16 inch rear on motorcycle-grade tires. Curb weight is 158 lb and the 84V 10A charger refills the pack in four to six hours.

The Nova 5 puts its motor in the middle of the frame and drives the rear wheel through a chain, rather than building the motor into the wheel. That keeps the unsprung weight down at the rear, which is what lets the suspension work over rough ground, and it puts 380 N·m where the bike can use it. Freego rates the unit at 4,000 W nominal and 8,000 W peak.
72V 40Ah, and a 10-amp charger
2,880 watt-hours on LG 50LT cells - the same pack size as the 79BIKE Falcon GT and the Coswheel R19, and roughly double what a mid-priced e-moto carries. Freego quotes 40 to 70 miles from it. The 84V 10A charger is unusually quick for this class and puts it back in four to six hours rather than the eight most 72V bikes need.

Almost everything in this price band runs a welded high-strength steel tube frame. The Nova 5 uses forged aluminum alloy, which is where the 158 lb curb weight comes from on a bike carrying a 2,880 Wh pack. Suspension is hydraulic at both ends: a 780 mm fork with 210 mm of travel, and a 265 mm shock running 78 mm of stroke.
Brakes sized for the speed
Four-piston hydraulic calipers on a 220 mm front rotor and a 200 mm rear. On a 158 lb machine that will do 53 mph, this is the part of the spec sheet worth reading twice - it is the line cheaper bikes cut. Wheels are a 19 inch front and a 16 inch rear on motorcycle-grade tires.

- Ships free from Freego's US warehouse in Chino, California.
- Freego dispatches in-stock bikes within 1 to 3 business days, then quotes 3 to 8 business days in transit.

- Lower 48 and DC only - Freego does not deliver to Hawaii, Puerto Rico or other islands.
