Roost or impact? A roost deflector stops the rocks and dirt thrown by the bike in front — that is the everyday job. A chest protector adds hard impact plates over the sternum and back for crash protection. Under-jersey versions look like nothing is there and work with a neck brace; over-jersey shells give more coverage and vent better. Every item lists its sizing on the product page — rider gear is sized by measurement, not by the bike you ride.
