Do I need a guard or a hinged brace?
Guards are lighter, cheaper, far more comfortable and enough for most trail riding. Riders with a previous knee injury or a race schedule usually move up to a hinged brace, which also controls how far the joint travels.
What is D3O?
A material that stays flexible while you ride and stiffens on impact, so you get protection without the stiffness of a hard shell. Some guards in this collection are built with it; the product page says which.
What is the difference between a knee guard and a knee/shin guard?
A knee guard covers the joint only. A knee/shin guard extends down over the shin, which is where footpegs and rocks land. Both shapes are stocked here and the product title states which you are getting.
