When the universal cover is the right answer
If the seat is torn, the bike is being sold in a month, or it is a $349 kids' mini bike that will be outgrown by spring, a $25 stretch cover is not a mistake — it is proportionate. Universal covers are cut oversize and pulled over the pan, so the panel lines never sit where the seat's actual shape is, and the grip is whatever the roll was. That is a fair trade at that price. It stops being a fair trade the moment the reason you are shopping is that you cannot stay on the bike.
When OEM is the right answer
When the bike is under warranty and you want it exactly as it left the factory, or when you liked the stock seat and simply wore it out. An OEM cover restores the original: same vinyl, same grip, same appearance. It does not solve a problem you had before the cover wore out.
