Who is 78 Forged?
The electric dirt bike brand of Fantastic 78, a Southern California moto business. They make one model, the Phase I, and assemble it themselves in Riverside, California — they describe it as the first electric dirt bike assembly line in America.
Is the Phase I street legal?
No. It has no pedals, so federal law does not treat it as a bicycle, and 78 Forged publish no US e-bike class and no street certification for it. They sell it for private property, designated riding areas and OHV parks that allow off-road vehicles. Check your state's rules before riding anywhere public.
Who is the Phase I for?
A child or a light teenager. 78 Forged set a minimum age of 8, require adult supervision under 18, and recommend a maximum rider weight of 120 lb on the bike's spec page. Their dealer sheet prints a different figure and we have asked them to reconcile the two — until they do we publish the lower one.
