The X2 Pro is the only Macfox with suspension at both ends, carries the biggest battery Macfox builds — 960 Wh, up to 40 miles, 80 with a second pack — and still stops at 20 mph, because staying Class 2 is what keeps it license-free and street legal. At $2,199 it is the Macfox for rough streets and bigger riders, not a trail bike.

The 20 mph ceiling is the feature
Every Macfox is a moped-style Class 2 e-bike: pedals, a thumb throttle, and a hard 20 mph ceiling with no app unlock behind it. Federal law treats that as a bicycle — no license, no registration, no insurance — and every Macfox carries UL 2849 system certification. If you were hoping the flagship secretly went faster: it does not, and that is precisely why you can ride it to work legally. Riders who want off-road speed are shopping a different category — our e-dirt speed guide covers it.
What $2,199 actually buys
Three things separate the X2 Pro from the rest of the line. Full suspension — it is the only Macfox sprung at both ends, which on cracked streets and bad connectors is a comfort upgrade you feel every block. The 960 Wh battery, the largest Macfox builds, rated up to 40 miles — or 80 with a second pack, which turns range anxiety into a non-topic for a daily commute. And the widest footprint: 20×4.5 front, 20×5.0 rear, with hydraulic discs and a 330 lb payload rating on a high-strength carbon steel frame.
X2 vs X2 Pro: check which bike a review rode
Macfox previously sold a bike called simply the X2, now discontinued, and Macfox’s own parts copy treats the two as different bikes: the X2 ran 20×4.0 tires with a 220 lb rider limit, while the X2 Pro runs 20×4.5 front / 20×5.0 rear on a high-strength carbon steel frame rated to 330 lb. We stock only the X2 Pro, and a part listed for the "X2" alone is never assumed to fit it. If you are reading third-party "Macfox X2" reviews, check which bike was actually ridden before weighing the verdict. Parts that are confirmed for this bike live in the X2 Pro collection.
Know before you buy
The 32-inch seat height is genuinely tall for a moped-style bike — shorter riders should sit one before committing, or look at the X1S. At 72 lb it is not a carry-upstairs bike; plan ground-floor or garage storage and a serious lock setup. And full suspension here serves comfort, not jumps — this is a street machine.
Verdict
For a bigger rider, a longer route, or genuinely rough pavement, the X2 Pro is the strongest bike in the Macfox range and the one we point commuters to when the usual comfort upgrades would not be enough.
