Gear up in this order

You do not need everything on day one. You do need these three, and in this order.

First · $199 to $250

A helmet that fits

Non-negotiable

The one item with no argument attached. Fit matters more than price — a helmet that moves on your head is not doing its job, whatever it cost. Replace it after any impact, even one that left no mark.

  • Replace after ANY IMPACT
  • Fit SNUG, NO MOVEMENT
  • Returns UNWORN ONLY
  • Buy it FIRST

Second · $69 to $87

Gloves

Every ride

You will put your hands out. Everybody does, it is a reflex you cannot train away. Gloves are the cheapest gear on this page and the one most riders skip on a short trip.

  • Cost LOW
  • Protects PALMS, KNUCKLES
  • Wear it EVERY RIDE
  • Buy it SECOND

Third · $50 to $100

Body armor and goggles

Off-road

Once you are riding off-road at speed, chest and back protection and eye protection stop being optional. Roost and branches are what goggles are for, not sunlight.

  • Protects CHEST, BACK, EYES
  • Needed OFF-ROAD
  • Fit OVER OR UNDER JERSEY
  • Buy it THIRD

Protection & Gear questions, answered

What is the minimum I should ride in?
Helmet, gloves and something over your eyes. That is the floor at any speed. Off-road at pace, add chest and back protection — the ground is not the only thing you hit.
Can I return a helmet?
Only unworn, with tags attached and the liner untouched. A helmet worn outside the house cannot come back — that is in our refund policy and it is standard across the industry, because a used helmet cannot be certified as un-impacted.
When do I replace a helmet?
After any impact, even one that left no visible mark. The liner works by crushing, and a crushed liner does not spring back. Otherwise, most manufacturers say five years from first use.
Does rider gear need a fitment code?
No. Gear fits a person, not a frame, so it carries no fitment code and the cart marks it universal fit. Bike protection — skid plates, frame guards, hand guards — does need a code.
What if it does not fit?
Send it back. 14 days to start a return on any part, no restocking fee, uninstalled and in its original packaging with the hardware bag unopened. If our fitment data was wrong, we cover the return shipping too — that one is on us, not you.

About Protection & Gear

The cheapest upgrade on an electric dirt bike is the one that stops a $40 rock from becoming a $900 repair. Protection comes before power on every build we would put our name on.

Bike protection is the bulk of this collection: skid plates, bash guards, frame sliders, case covers and bodywork, cut for a specific frame and using stock mounting points. The Surron Light Bee X and Talaria Sting R plates are formed 4 mm 5052 aluminum with countersunk hardware so nothing catches; MotoTec, Macfox, Heybike and Freego platforms are covered too. Hand guards carry an aluminum core inside the plastic, so a tip-over bends the guard instead of snapping your lever.

Rider gear sits alongside it — helmets, body armor and gloves. The full range of jerseys, pants, knee braces and chest protection lives in the gear collections in the same menu.

Watch the skid plate install: seven minutes of video, about 25 minutes in the garage. Every part shows its verified fitment per bike.

Wear the gear.

Free US shipping over $99. Helmets can be returned unworn with the liner untouched.
