One naming note before anything else: the Talaria Sting R and the MX4 are the same bike. Sting R was the launch name, MX4 is what everyone calls it now. We keep both collections live so either search finds parts.
What is the real mechanical difference?
The drive design. The Surron runs a primary belt from the motor to a countershaft, then a 420 chain to the wheel. The Talaria replaces the belt with a sealed gear reduction running in oil. In practice that means:
- Surron: the belt is a wear and tension item. It is also a cheap, 20 minute swap when it goes. We stock the replacement belt for $32.99.
- Talaria: no belt to tension, but the gearbox oil is a service item, and a gearbox is not a garage rebuild the way a belt is.
- Both still run a final drive chain, so chain care applies to both equally.
Which has the better aftermarket?
