A controller is the one part where getting it wrong is expensive and occasionally dangerous. Nothing here is hard, but all four have to be right.
Battery voltage
The controller must be rated for your pack's nominal voltage and its fully charged voltage. A 60V controller on a 72V pack fails, often immediately, and the failure mode is not always graceful.
Current rating
Sold on peak amps, limited by continuous amps. A "60A" controller that sustains 35A is a 35A controller for anything longer than a sprint. Match it to what the motor and the pack can actually deliver.
Motor sensors
Most of these motors use hall sensors for commutation. A sensorless controller on a hall motor will run, badly — rough starts, poor low-speed torque. Match the type.
Display and throttle
A new controller usually means a new display and often a new throttle, because the protocol and signal range are part of the controller's design. Budget for the set, not the box.

What is here. Seventeen parts that sit between the throttle and the motor. Commuter side: the Heybike motor controller, main cable, LCD display, pedal assist sensor and Alpha speed sensor. E-dirt side: a throttle for the Talaria MX3, MX4 and MX5, a throttle handle shared across Surron, Segway and Talaria, throttle turn grips for the Surron S and X, a wiring harness for the Surron S and X, a switch assembly for the Talaria MX3, MX4 and X3, and a controller guard for the Talaria MX4.
Covers and brackets. The smaller items are the ones that go missing or crack first: ignition switch covers and an ignition key switch cover for Surron, an ignition switch cover for the Segway X160 and X260, a lower controller protective shield for Surron, and a digital display relocation bracket for Surron. Riders usually land here for one of three reasons: a throttle that has gone intermittent, a harness damaged in a crash, or a display they want moved.
Fitment. Connector types and harness routing differ between models and between the S and X, so every part is tagged to the bikes it was checked against and the fitment badge on the product card shows that before you open the listing. Match the badge to your exact model before ordering a harness or controller.
