Controllers & Wiring questions, answered

Will a bigger controller make my bike faster?
It can, and it will also stress everything downstream. More current means more heat in the motor, more load on the pack and more strain on the BMS. If the battery cannot deliver it, the BMS cuts out under throttle. Upgrade the whole chain or none of it.
Do I need a new display too?
Usually yes. Displays talk to controllers over a manufacturer-specific protocol, so a new controller normally needs a matching display and often a matching throttle. Budget for the set.
Can I fit a 72V controller to a 48V bike?
The controller may tolerate the lower voltage, but the bike will not go faster — voltage sets the speed ceiling and your pack still supplies 48V. You would need the pack, the motor and the wiring to match. That is a rebuild, not an upgrade.
Is this covered by warranty?
Fitting a non-standard controller will generally void the bike's manufacturer warranty on the drivetrain. That is the manufacturer's rule, not ours, and it is worth knowing before you open the box.
What if it does not fit?
Send it back. 14 days to start a return on any part, no restocking fee, uninstalled and in its original packaging with the hardware bag unopened. If our fitment data was wrong, we cover the return shipping too — that one is on us, not you.

About Controllers & Wiring

What is here. Seventeen parts that sit between the throttle and the motor. Commuter side: the Heybike motor controller, main cable, LCD display, pedal assist sensor and Alpha speed sensor. E-dirt side: a throttle for the Talaria MX3, MX4 and MX5, a throttle handle shared across Surron, Segway and Talaria, throttle turn grips for the Surron S and X, a wiring harness for the Surron S and X, a switch assembly for the Talaria MX3, MX4 and X3, and a controller guard for the Talaria MX4.

Covers and brackets. The smaller items are the ones that go missing or crack first: ignition switch covers and an ignition key switch cover for Surron, an ignition switch cover for the Segway X160 and X260, a lower controller protective shield for Surron, and a digital display relocation bracket for Surron. Riders usually land here for one of three reasons: a throttle that has gone intermittent, a harness damaged in a crash, or a display they want moved.

Fitment. Connector types and harness routing differ between models and between the S and X, so every part is tagged to the bikes it was checked against and the fitment badge on the product card shows that before you open the listing. Match the badge to your exact model before ordering a harness or controller.
