The folding Mad runs 25+ mph and 18 to 22 miles per charge from its four-battery 48V system, with chain final drive.
The MotoTec Mad is a folding fat-tire electric scooter for riders 13 and up, a cross between a mini-scooter and an electric bike with a bamboo foot deck and 135/65-8 street tires. A 48V 1600W motor with chain final drive runs on four 12V 12Ah lead-acid batteries, and dual headlights and carrying bags are included.
Top speed is 25+ mph with an 18 to 22 mile range in optimum conditions and a 4 to 8 hour charge. A single front shock and dual rear shocks handle the bumps, with front and rear disc brakes, a horn, and height-adjustable handlebars. Max rider weight is 310 lbs and the scooter weighs 106 lbs, so pick a ground-floor storage spot. Warranty is 60 days parts replacement.
