Almost certainly not, because almost none of these are street legal in the first place. Every bike here is sold as an off-road vehicle: no registration, no license, no plate, and no public roads. Four of them keep pedals and pedal assist — the Coswheel R19 and R6000, the Freego X3 and X3 Pro — which is what a Class 1, 2 or 3 e-bike needs, but whether yours qualifies depends on how it is configured and on your state. Everything else runs a throttle on moto foot pegs and cannot be registered as a bicycle at all. Trails, tracks and private land, and check your local rules before you ride.

Cut the brochure number by about a third for hard riding. Quick math: watt hours divided by 22 is a fair trail estimate. A 72V 40Ah pack (2,880Wh) lands near 130 easy miles or 60 to 70 hard ones.

If the rider is small or young, start in Electric Bikes for Kids instead — seat heights from 17 inches, rider limits to 185 lb, and nothing there goes over 31 mph. Adults starting out do best in Tier 1 or Tier 2: the Yozma IN 10 at $1,079 is the value pick, and the Heybike Villain at $1,299 runs three speed modes at 20, 38 and 45 mph, so the bike can grow with the rider instead of being outgrown. Skip Tier 3 for a first bike; 610 N·m does not care that you are new.

Mid-drives put their torque through the gearing, so the number does more work on a climb than it looks like it should — the Freego Nova range and the Heybike Villain are the mid-drives here — and the chain and sprockets wear faster for it. Hub motors are simpler, quieter and cheaper to keep running. At this price point neither one is wrong.
